8 steps to changing your mindset

Following my previous blog on The Mindset, in this blog, I will propose 8 steps to changing your mindset in a practical way.

mindset

The proposed 8 steps are as follows:
  1. Ask yourself how you can switch from surviving to a thriving mode in a given situation. For example, avoid pessimistic questions (i.e., why me?, who cares?, why would I even try?, etc); and tell yourself how can I do it successfully?
  2. Embracing powerful daily habits help mindset change. This is because it reinforces thinking with action orientation. For instance, if you want to change from a fixed to a growth mindset, work on learning new skills and knowledge, and write down learning achievements daily. Likewise, if you are working to change from destination to journey approach, work on achieving small tasks every time, enjoy resulted in learning, and reward yourself for every experienced success. Within this context, I would like to share my quote that success is not a goal to achieve. it is a journey to enjoy!
  3. Change your inner self assumptions.  Instead of assuming scarcity, try to assume abundance and seek to find it. Accept other's contributions and seek cooperation and alignment with them: stop negative competition - it wastes time and energy for nothing. Always remember that people complement each other!
  4. Change the way you talk about yourself publicly. Remove negative statements (i.e., I am always like this, I always do it this way, etc). Instead, make it your default habit to talk about what is going well in your life; rather than complaining about your problems. This will encourage a positive mindset.
  5. Read relevant books from successful minds to understand their approach to mindset and adopt their thinking - where relevant (i.e., Gabrielle Bernstein, Thomas Oppong, Tony Robbins, etc). Besides, read about how the mindset forms and works. Learn from mindset experts through online courses, events, and coaching.
  6. Change negative self-talk - this is crucial. Negative self-talk (i.e., I am not capable to do this, I can not do it, this is impossible, etc), creates negative reality and, consequently, your mindset will hold you back from acting as desired. Instead, switch to growth self-talk to reflect empowerment thoughts; by telling yourself that you can do it but I need to find out how!
  7. The same birds flock together meaning. Surround yourself with people who have the mindset that you aim to have. It is easier to adopt the desired mindset when you see that it is already working for others. Learn how they think and adapt their daily habits to match their mindset.
  8. Rejuvenate your daily metaphors.  Instead of saying, for instance, life is boring, consider seeing life as a fun and learning arena.

I would love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, and questions in the comment below.
